6 steps to protect yourself from deepfakes
Their voice. Their face. Not them. With SDAIA and CST launching the "It's AI" campaign, here are six practical steps to protect yourself from deepfakes.
The Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA) and the Communications, Space & Technology Commission (CST) have launched the "It's AI" campaign to raise awareness of deepfake risks. Believing in our role in spreading awareness, we at Business Quality share what every user should keep in mind.
Six steps for every user
- Don't act under pressure. An urgent payment or a request for a verification code, even in a familiar voice or video? Pause first.
- Verify through another channel. Call the person back on the number you already know, not the one that contacted you.
- Agree on a safe word with family and colleagues to confirm identity in sensitive moments.
- Share less in public. Clips of your voice and face are raw material for fakes. Review your privacy settings.
- Verify before you repost. Seeing or hearing someone is no longer proof. Check the official source first.
- Turn on two-factor authentication, and never share verification codes with anyone.
For organisations
Require dual verification for every payment request or bank-detail change, however trusted the source looks.
Awareness is the first line of defence. Share it with the people you care about.
Every need starts with a conversation
